Haiti Update October 7th.

As of October 7th, more than 22,500 transitional shelters had been completed.

Safety Inspections: 278,854 buildings from 350-400,000 that needed inspecting had been assessed. 51% were green- safe for habitation –  26% were yellow – could be repaired – while the remaining red, were unusable to be repaired and in the main should be demolished.

Repairing ‘yellow’ buildings is just beginning and in general takes about a day each and cost in the region of $1-2,000.
